One of the standout features of Kothel South is its extensive cake selection. Hands down my favourite brunch spot. Friendly staff, great coffee, tasty sandwiches and delicious cakes . Plus it looks and feels like the neighbourhood corner coffee shops in Amsterdam so you get a cheeky holiday every visit
Lovely brunch spot, food, coffee and service were all fantastic. Two mains, two desserts, and three coffees for £33. I had a vanilla latte, a salmon croissant, and an Oreo slice. It was lovely and filling, would absolutely recommend all of these. Great place for a coffee and a cake if you’re not after a whole meal. The decor and music were great, and the service was friendly and prompt.
the people in this cafe are very kind and helpful, especially to simple punks like me. i ordered the caramel apple tea and ed's favourite sandwich. sandwich was amazing, by the time i thought to take a picture it was almost gone. the atmosphere is very family friendly, and there was a diverse spread of people visiting. 10/10, next time i go i will be trying a cake.
Honest review. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The cafe looks clean and tidy. Cakes not in cake cabinet or covered- as amazing as they look they’ll be dry. It’s hot days now- flies could land on cakes. Coronation chicken sandwich is full of jalapeños- not to my taste.
This is where we go when I visit my son. Firstly the staff are lovely and can't do enough for you, even my little dog was asked if needed water. Then the food, well, it's delicious, as are the cakes on offer. Thank you to all the staff, until the next time. Margaret Shields.
For cake and coffee it's a delight with good selection and gluten free / vegan options available. Have sat in and also ordered take away (no change in price for takeaway). Food is tasty however overpriced for what is on offer and portion.
The cakes here are incredible. I have ordered almost all of the options over the last few months and have never once been disappointed. The freshly squeezed orange juice is so refreshing and perfect throughout the summer. The lunch menu is slightly more limited in terms of vegetarian options but is still pretty good. The coffee is decent but there are so many incredible coffee options nearby that it doesn’t quite hold its own on that front. Would mostly recommend for the cakes but is still a really solid addition to Mount Florida!
I love Kothel and have been here many times. However, after a recent visit I’m writing this as the cake slices given out have always been a highlight, but I was given slices this time that were much thinner than usual and moreso than other people around me. It left me feeling disappointed given the price we paid for lunch and no rectification. There was also no soup left or baguettes, and was given only a tiny bit of salad on the side. I’m still thinking about it now and whether I would go back! I usually don’t ever write reviews like this but Kothel used to be my gem!
